How many here are aware that the Mexican song “Cuando Vuelvo a Tu Lado” (María Grever 1934) is the same song as the American jazz standard “What a Difference a Day Made?” (English words by Stanley Adams 1934)?

Although the song is written by a Mexican composer, I think it is important in Cuban music. This great version is by the great Cuban saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera. The English version is by Dinah Washington. She won a grammy for this recording in the 1950s.

Another great Cuban version is by the late Alfredo Rodriguez on piano on the CD “Cuba Linda.”
